How to compress an image to 200 KB

Choose your image, select 200 KB, then click “Compress image”. The tool searches for the highest quality below 200,000 bytes and reduces dimensions if necessary. Start with original dimensions or raise the size limit to keep more detail.

When should I choose 50 or 100 KB?

Use 50 KB for forms with strict limits. Choose 100 or 200 KB when allowed to preserve more detail. The result depends on image detail and format; it does not need to equal the limit exactly.

Do my images leave my device?

Images are processed in your browser; the compression code does not upload the file. This page shows third-party ads that may use browser data and cookies. We do not include images or filenames in analytics events.

Is compression completely lossless?

JPG and WebP compression here removes some image data. The tool finds the best quality within your limit and may also reduce dimensions. Check the preview, especially text and fine details, before downloading.

Can I compress a PNG to 100 KB?

Yes. Choose a PNG and set 100 KB. The output is JPG or WebP; PNG output is not available in this version. Choose WebP if you need to keep transparency.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, in modern phone and desktop browsers. It supports one image up to 25 MB, with a maximum of 40 megapixels and 12,000 pixels per edge. HEIC, GIF and PDF files are not supported.

Why did the image dimensions change?

The tool starts with the maximum edge you select. If adjusting quality is not enough to meet the limit, it gradually reduces dimensions. The final dimensions are shown before download.
